The Alice R was a 17-foot Clausen Craft built by Clausen and Sons (Largs SA) had a two cylinder Stuart Turner motor with forward and reverse gears. Most of the other boats used at Yilki at the time were single cylinder with no actual gears or neutral.
Mr Radloft sold the boat to Geoff sometime in the mid to late 60's and it was moved to the moorings at Yilki. Previously Geoff would look after it for a Mr Radloft who lived on the foreshore near Batty Rd at the Bluff.

During a stormy day on the 16th May 1975 the boat broke its anchor chain and drifted out to sea.
Geoff was rowing his dinghy in high seas to retrieve the boat when he was swamped by a big wave about 300 yards from shore and he clung to the dinghy for about five minutes before being forced to let go. The Alice R was lost.
