John Ford OAM
Marine Artist
John Ford OAM arrived in Australia from the UK after serving 18 years in the Royal Air Force. He served in two areas of conflict, the Middle East and Northern Ireland.
John's work displays the subtle hues and intricate detail of the watercolour style. While his works are substantially based on maritime themes, his portfolio also includes historical buildings, steam locomotives, military subjects and animals. With numerous exhibitions and art awards to his credit, John is one of South Australia’s leading marine artists. John’s work has been commissioned for many Australian, international, private and corporate collections. These include Make a Wish Foundation, SA Maritime Museum, Royal Australian Navy, Australian Post, Encounter 2002 Official Event and ABC series “Navigators”.
With numerous exhibitions and art awards to his credit, John is one of South Australia’s leading artists. He accepts commissioned work, the chosen subject meticulously researched and the artwork carefully executed. He also teaches art professionally with programmes catering for beginners through to advanced artists.
In 2021 John was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for Services to the community of Port Adelaide.

Ladies and gentlemen first I would like to say on behalf of Jenny and myself thank you very much for the welcome you've given us today. It's been a lovely feeling you have given us and you made us part of your extended family in a way that people assumed (as I was sitting there signing your books and your prints today) that I was also related and some people would now be disappointed.
