Stanley Malen Rumbelow
Descendant of Malen Rumbelow 2nd
Besides fishing, Stanley Malen (Ween) Rumbelow had two other interests — football and cricket . He both played for and captained the Encounter Bay cricket team.
Ween began playing football for Encounter Bay when he was 17 but, after a disagreement with the club, he took advantage of the fact that they then didn't need clearances to change clubs and began playing for Victor Harbor. Later on, until his 50s, he was an umpire for the Great Southern Association umpire.

Graham Rumbelow was a keen sportsman and was captain of the Encounter Bay Cricket Team for 13 years
He became a life member of the Football Club and represented the Association in both sports. He was a tough footballer and many opponents seemed to make contact with his fist with their chins.
On 11 February 2023, Graham Rumbelow was inducted into the Encounter Bay Cricket Club Team of the Century.

David freely gave his time supporting many sports throughout his lifetime and was an invaluable member of each sports club he was associated with. In recognition of his voluntary work, he has been awarded Life Memberships of the Rambler Football and Cricket Clubs, as well as the Murray Bridge Basketball Association.
David particularly enjoyed supporting his children, including assisting as sports trainer with Ramblers and Norwood Football Clubs whilst Gregory was playing there.
David rarely missed watching many of his 12 grandchildren participate at sporting events and he was a familiar face in the community.
1959 - 2007
An accomplished sportsman, Greg Rumbelows true love was Cricket. One of his favourite stories about his cricket career was the fact that he played his first A Grade Cricket Match for Ramblers when he was 5 years old.
Pa (Rocket) was the wicketkeeper for the team and Dad would always come and watch him play, however one day the team was short of fielders. Dad keenly stepped onto the oval and filled a spot on the boundary.
Greg played schoolboys cricket, won the association bowling aggregate for B grade when he was 13 and captained the A grade side when he was 19 years old. He was a fast bowler and at 20 went and played for the Adelaide Cricket Club. Even though Dad considered himself a bowler, he was chosen by the selectors as a batsman. Greg was first selected in C grade. This only lasted one match and he was bumped straight up to B grade. He stayed here for five more weeks and then was promoted to the A grade.
Greg held a club record during his first A Grade Match. The first bowl that he faced he hit for a six and then when the team went into field, he took a wicket with his first ball. he won man of the match in every game of the season bar one and was also named Most Valuable Player for the entire club which proudly won him a lounge suite!
Greg would also often tell us the story of when he hit a ball for six off Adelaide Oval number two. The ball went across Morphett St and into the Adelaide Golf Course in North Adelaide. This was outstanding, let alone the fact that the next ball he faced he did it again!
Greg was an impatient batsman who couldn't resist a short ball however he always felt that after he got out he would make them pay when they faced his bowling.
Unfortunately, Greg had to cut his sporting career short at the age of 21 when he was diagnosed with arthritis and was told that he would never play any sport again. He always maintained his interest in sport and when we were old enough to begin playing he took on a coaching role.
Greg Rumbelow coached Rambler’s U15 football team, U15 cricket teams and a number of basketball teams.

"Both my brothers would have done well in Adelaide if they had come over. John was a quick bowler and very handy bat. Grant was a leggie and could also bat. Brad also a very good country cricketer. All of them played association cricket and both John and Grant represented Eyre Peninsula"

Andrew Rumbelow - A legend of the game in SACA premier cricket circles, who plays cricket for two reasons, to win and play with mates. A very competitive player, who always puts the team first, who loves batting and bowls very handy mediums. “Rumbles as he is known, will provide options for the Northern Explorers.
Andrew Rumbelow captained the Kensington Cricket Club where he holds the Club record for the most runs scored at district level surpassing the record of Sir Donald Bradman who also played for the club in an earlier era.
Rumbles was born in 1963 in Crystal Brook, but he remembers playing his first proper game of cricket in 1974 in Streaky Bay. Luckily a couple of schoolteachers started up junior cricket in Streaky Bay with 3 teams who played 2 then a bye. 20 x 8 ball overs. He continued playing for the Streaky Bay colts & A Grade until 1980.
In season 1979, Rumbles played at East Torrens until 1982 and also played school cricket at Prince Alfred College.
The partnership with the Kensington Cricket Club began in 1982 and he is still playing with the LOA’s in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association.
In 1988 Rumbles spent a season at Water Orton in the Central League in the United Kingdom, every cricketers dream!
Rumbles spent a number of seasons at St Peters from 2004 – 2006. This season will see Rumbles lead the Kensington Grey Browns in the SAVCA.
Rumbles loves family time, walking through the many Morialta trails in the Adelaide Hills & watching elite sport. He is currently employed in the Federal Government performing an administration role.
His highest score was 249 in a B grade game for Kensington, whilst his best bowling was 6/ in an A grade game.
Idols, Oval & Inspiration:
Rumbles has 3 things he loves, Cricket Golf & Aussie rules so it was a no brainer for him to nominate his idols growing up in Greg Chappell, Paul Bagshaw & Jack Nicklaus.
Having played cricket in the UK he has been lucky enough to play at some great venues. He played a number of games at Adelaide Oval, 1 at Edgbaston but his favourite is Parkinson Oval, Kensington.
Golf, Red wine & a chat:
Rumbles could not think of 3 better personalities to spend a round of golf, red wine & a chat! They would be Jack Nicklaus, Roger Federer, Mick Fanning, all who seem to be incredibly modest, very respectful of their sport and their opponents as well as good blokes.
SAVCA & Veterans Cricket & Why
Rumbles played just 2 games of over 50’s last year with the Yorke Peninsula Salties and loved it. He will play with the Northern Explorers in the SPL & Kensington in the SAVCA competition to continued enjoyment & meeting new blokes and catching up with a few past team mates and opponents….and having a beer and a few laughs after the game.

ANDREW Rumbelow reckons Jake Brown is the perfect person to break his record as the Kensington Browns’ all-time leading run scorer. “He’s so deserving because he’s a fantastic bloke,” Rumbelow says.
“He oozes Brown blood ... and his name’s Brown, so he was born to do this. I'm so proud that it’s him.”
Brown, 30, passed Rumbelow’s mark against East Torrens at Campbelltown Oval this month. Rumbelow coached Brown, a dual Bradman Medallist, for two seasons from 2012-14.

AUTOGRAPHED CRICKET BAT
Glen Rosser, 16, who plays cricket for the Port Elliot A grade side, recently made 164 not out in a match against the Valleys. Glen is now the proud owner of a miniature bat autographed by an Australian Test team. His feat was acknowledged by Slazengers (Aust.) Ltd. who presented him with the miniature because he used a Slazengers bat when he made his century.
