AUNT DOROTHY'S LETTERS.

"Port Victor, May. 29. 

Dear Aunt Dorothy— I was very pleased to see that my last letter was good enough to be printed. I go to school, and it is quite near to our place. I like going very much. I look forward every week to read the letters in the paper, and I like reading them very much. Sometimes. we go up the Hindmarsh River, and it is a very pretty one, with reeds and trees on each side. My uncle has the boats on it, and he lives up the other end. I like writing letters to you very much. Now I must close with love to you and Uncle George. —I remain, your loving niece, RUBY THEISINGER. 

I am sending 6d. for 'Minda.' My age is 9 years and 6 months. 

I am glad, my dear Ruby, that you like going to school and that you have not far to walk to it. I am also very pleased to know that you like reading the letters so much that you are anxious to get the paper every week. I hope you will continue to like them. I have never been on the Hindmarsh River in a boat, but I have often walked along its banks, and I agree with you that it is very pretty. It is nice to know that you like writing letters to me, my dear, and I hope it will please you to be told that I like receiving your letters.

Port Victor, April 22, 1900..

Dear Aunt Dorothy - I have not written to you for a long time, but I thought I would like to write io you again. Since I wrote to you last I have joined the Sunbeam Society, and I am very fond of going. I am in the third class at school and I like my master very much. We have had a nice lot of rain lately, and the grass is coming up very nice and green. I have two brothers, one of them goes to school with me, but my other brother is too small to go now. I think I must close, with fondest love to you and Uncle George. I am 10 years and 6 months old.

I am sending 3d', in stamps to "Minda" - I remain your loving niece,

It is a long time since I heard from you, my dear Ruby, and your letter was very welcome. I am glad you like your school master, my dear, because it is always nice for that feeling to exist among pupils towards their teachers. How good it is that the season has opened so well, is it not? and how nice it must be to see the country looking bright and green again. Shortly you will be looking for the wild flowers.

OBITUARY - Jacob Theisinger

The Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1889 - 1931) - Monday 15 August 1898

“THEISINGER. — On the 14th August, of Mable street, Yatala, Jacob, the beloved husband of Mary Jane Theisinger, after a long and painful illness, leaving two sons and one daughter to mourn their loss; aged 38 years.”

We are called upon to-day to record the death of two residents well-known to many in this town and district. Some time during Friday night Mr Jacob Theisinger expired at his residence, as early on Saturday morning he was found dead in bed by his daughter. 

The deceased has been a sufferer for some time from Bright's disease, and it appeared very evident that he passed away quietly in his sleep during the night from heart failure. Mr Theisinger came to this colony 47 years ago, and will be remembered by many as one of the members of the Portland German Band, which for years was a popular musical combination, and well-known throughout this district. 

The decease of some of the members of the band caused the remainder to take up a ether means to secure a livelihood. During his long residence here Mr Theisinger has proved a quiet resident, held in respect by a large circle of friends. 

He leaves behind him a family grown up and respectably settled in various parts of the colony, with the exception of two, who are well-known and highly respected residents of this town.
