Kenneth Peter Rumbelow (Peter) was born at Victor Harbor on 13th April 1937 and married Genevieve Wallace Hickling on 20th February 1960. They had two daughters. In January 2005, Peter was presented with the Australia Day City of Campbelltown Citizen of the Year Award.
Peter was Chairman of the 150 Year Rumbelow Reunion Committee and compiled this book from research carried out by a number of people, particularly Mary George and Lesley Avery.
Lesley Ann Avery (nee Burge) married Neil Richard Avery, a descendant of Mahalia Rumbelow on 24th April 1965. After Neil retired from the CSIRO , he spent many years as a member of the Port Melbourne Yacht Club and competed in club races, Victorian and national championships and and now plays golf.
Lesley has undertaken an enormous amount of research for the Rumbelow families, for which we are indebted. Lesley has a genuine interest in genealogy and has corrected some of the misconceptions that existed for many years. Along with Mary George, she has collected and analysed the data that has created the completed family tree. and Neil have three children.
Mary George was born 14th May 1935 to parents August William Reid (Gus) and Martha Ivy Schonfelder. Mary married Bernard Williams in 1954 and had three children. In 1973 Evelyn Reid married Lindsay Norman George and they had two children.
Mary George devoted an enormous amount of time, energy and expense towards researching the descendants of Malen and Alice Rumbelow. She has compiled an amazing record in copies of documents, newspaper clippings, photographs and records of conversations on each of the families involved, and without her effort this book would not have been possible.
Mary passed peacefully amongst her family on 21 September 2020.
