LATE MISS SUSAN RUMBELOW
It is noted with deep regret the passing of one of the best known personalities of this district.
Miss Susan Rose (Sis) Rumbelow, who died on the morning of 5th September, was the eldest daughter of the late David Malen and Susan Rumbelow, and was born at Encounter Bay in 1890.
At the age of 15 years she was left fatherless when her father was stricken on the cutter 'Rambler.'
Miss Rumbelow stood shoulder to shoulder with her mother to help rear and care for her younger sister and brothers.
For many years she and her mother conducted 'Ocean View' guest home, and by her genial and self-sacrificing nature endeared herself to all who knew her.
She leaves a vast circle of friends who join with her family to mourn her. Those of the family who survive her are Mrs. J. F Bartel, Mr. Lionel Rumbelow, and Mr. Malen Rumbelow. Those who predeceased her were Charles, David, Ernest, and Eric.
DEATH OF MRS. RUMBELOW
The death occurred late last night of Susan Rumbelow, widow of the late David Malin Rumbelow, of “Ocean View,” Encounter Bay.
Mrs. Rumbelow was born at Hindmarsh Valley nearly 68 years ago, and has resided in this district all her life. She had eight children, of whom three sons and two daughters survived; Cis, Ivy, Eric, Lionel, and Malin. The funeral will leave “Ocean View” for the local cemetery at 2 p.m. sharp today, and will be conducted by the Rev. Chas. Watts.
Rosser — Rumbelow
In the Yelki Congregational Church, Encounter Bay, Florence Lorraine, daughter of Mrs. and the late D.J. Rumbelow, Encounter Bay, and Laurence Edward, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Rosser. of Port Elliot, were married by the Rev Loughhead.
The church was decorated by friends of the bride with flowers of pink and blue shades. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. Lionel Rumbelow, chose a frock of French crepe of cornflower blue, with which she wore navy blue accessories. She carried a shower bouquet of mixed pink flowers.
The bridesmaid, Miss Lillian Sutherland, was frocked in an unusual blue floral French crepe, with blue accessories. Mr. Frank Rosser was best man. Mrs. Tom Ellis, sister of the bridegroom, played the organ, and during the signing of the register, Mrs. Gordon Adey sang "Because.'"
After the ceremony a reception was held at Ocean View, the home of the bride's aunt, Miss S. Rumbelow. The bride travelled in a navy costume with hat and accessories to match.
