Prestonjee Bomanjee 1854 by John Ford OAM. Especially painted for the Rumbelow and Descendants Celebration.
John Ford OAM was commissioned to paint the artwork of the "Rumbelow Boats" that featured on the cover of the 150 Years in Australia book published in 2005. The original painting was then auctioned during the evening and was won by John and Sue Rumbelow from the West Coast.

In 2025 John Ford will again provide an original artwork featuring the "infamous" barque Pestonjee Bomanjee on which the original Rumbelow family travelled to Australia in 1854.
The artwork will be available to procure via a silent auction held during the Celebration Dinner. Bids will be collected by the envelopes provided on the evening. The highest bidder will be announced at the conclusion of the dinner formalities.

The committee is offering the original John Ford framed water-coloured through a silent auction.
A reserve value amount will be determined prior to the auction in conjunction with the artist.
Specific envelopes will be provided before the dinner for the bid to be enclosed.
Envelopes will be collected after main course and reviewed in another room.
Bids lower than the the reserve will be discarded.
The highest remaining bid will be awarded and announced. Painting awarded on the Sunday once monies are transferred.
If all received bids are below reserve, the silent auction will be re-run online in the week proceeding the event using a voting form.

John Ford OAM arrived in Australia from the UK after serving 18 years in the Royal Air Force. He served in two areas of conflict, the Middle East and Northern Ireland.
John's work displays the subtle hues and intricate detail of the watercolour style. While his works are substantially based on maritime themes, his portfolio also includes historical buildings, steam locomotives, military subjects and animals. With numerous exhibitions and art awards to his credit, John is one of South Australia’s leading marine artists.
John’s work has been commissioned for many Australian, international, private and corporate collections. These include Make a Wish Foundation, SA Maritime Museum, Royal Australian Navy, Australian Post, Encounter 2002 Official Event and ABC series “Navigators”.
With numerous exhibitions and art awards to his credit, John is one of South Australia’s leading artists. He accepts commissioned work, the chosen subject meticulously researched and the artwork carefully executed. He also teaches art professionally with programmes catering for beginners through to advanced artists.
In 2021 John was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for Services to the community of Port Adelaide.
